This new play by Segun Lee French is a very funny portrayal of the writer's own trip back to his father's homeland with his white mother. Relatives, customs and music combine to present a theatrical journey that will amuse and entertain anyone who has explored their own family history and had to examine their assumptions and expectations! Narrated by Taiye, its protagonist, it is the story of a life-changing trip to visit his paternal family in rural Nigeria from his urban home in Manchester UK. Feeling that he is being called to make the journey by the spirit of his twin brother who died at birth, Taiye and his white British mother Jane, arrive in Nigeria and find themselves embraced by a complex polygamous family, many of whom they have never met before. Peopled by colourful characters this is great story told by an ensemble cast with humour, pathos, melodrama, music and song. Produced by Eastern Angles, a company with a wonderful track record for rural touring, in association with Theatre Writing Partnership.
