Songbird

Kate Dimbleby in association with Theatre Damfino

“An artist at the top of her game” BBC

Experience the soaring talent of Kate Dimbleby, the singing daughter of Britain’s great broadcasting family, as she weaves powerful, soulful a capella with real life stories.
For years Kate Dimbleby has made shows about other people’s voices and stories; Peggy Lee, Bessie Smith and Dory Previn. Yet she has always had another nagging voice in her head. What’s Kate’s true story, why is she not singing it and who are the people on that journey? So she started listening… from London to the forests of Canada, the streets of New York and Bristol, recording the sounds and people around her.

Directed and devised with Katy Carmichael from Theatre Damfino, Songbird features songs from Kate’s critically acclaimed album Songbirds (released Feb 2017 by Folkstock Records, played on BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music).

“Part concert, part confessional. A project that is anything but conventional” - The Times
“Subtle, fresh and at times gently startling” - The Guardian
