  How Take Part works.

  Take Art is responsible for:

  • Liaising with potential applicants with regards to the practical and financial details of working with their preferred artist and offering other relevant information and advice.
  • Ensuring that artists have enhanced disclosure.
  • Notifying successful applicants and providing a simple contractual framework for the group and artist to work within.
  • Providing artists with preparatory information about the group with whom they will be working
  • Contracting and paying each artist, arranging confirmation with the participating group and invoicing the group for their financial contribution towards their programme.
  • Communicating details of any attending guests from other early years settings to the group.
  • Ensuring that each group fills out an evaluation form and keeps a scrapbook (to be provided by Take Art) record of their programme to be returned to Take Art. At the end of the year, the scrapbooks will be returned to the group for their own archive.

  The group is responsible for:

  • Selecting an artist and preparing an application to run a short programme with them.
  • Fully completing two application forms and returning one to Take Art as soon as possible, confirming that the group's financial contribution is available
  • In the event of a successful application, liasing with the artist to arrange dates and communicating these to Take Art.
  • Ensuring that workers and helpers are available to support the programme and providing encouragement to the participating children to become fully involved.
  • On receipt of an invoice paying the agreed group contribution to Take Art and returning the scrapbook documenting the programme to Take Art once the programme is over.
  • Agreeing to host guests from other pre-school settings as part of the Take Art/EYDCP creative training programme (maximum of two per session for the last three sessions) Start Training
  • Completing a short evaluation form at the end of the project.

  Availablility and Application.
  Length of Session.
Each artist is available for the equivalent of 4.5 sessions where each session may last between two and three hours. The first (half) session of 1.5 hours is for planning.

  Planning.
The artist and representatives of the group will meet at the group's venue to discuss the forthcoming programme. They will cover issues such as helper assistance from the group, numbers of participants, whether or not some 'thing' is produced by the end, possible skill-sharing opportunities and the format for the subsequent sessions.

  Numbers.
It is recommended that each participant attend as many of the sessions as possible for maximum results, although this can depend on the art form and the group size. Try not to dilute the experience by getting too many different children involved. On the other hand, very small settings might try working with some of the foundation year at the local primary school (an added benefit - this is a good way for the children to familiarise themselves with school).
Projects will be funded on a first come, first served basis and grants cannot be made retrospectively. Funds are limited and will be supported according to a number of criteria, the main one being the consideration that has gone into the application. Please return the application form as soon as possible as demand is heavy.

  Cost.
In order to make the scheme accessible for small settings we operate a scale of charges as follows:

Small group (1-14 children on roll) £50
Medium group (15-44 children on roll) £75
Large group (45+ on roll) £100
