| Kate Green is a community artist
with over 18 years experience of inspiring and encouraging communities
to explore their creative talents. She works mainly in two distinct
media – photography/digital art, and also Environmental
Art. Environmental Art is a truly accessible artform, and anybody
of any age or ability can become immersed in the creation of
large-scale natural artworks using the textures and colours
of nature. The temporary nature of the work lends itself to
photography and the stunning patterns created with the natural
materials can be captured with photos. The photos can be collaged,
combined with other media and laminated together, to create
window hangings, cards, bookmarks, posters, mobiles, even t.shirts.

| This work is particularly suited
to early years work and covers many aspects of the curriculum.
The work will help develop natural exploration and curiosity
and a positive approach to new experiences. The sessions will
cover two distinct days. The first will involve the children
in creating a giant floor-based artwork made with materials
brought in by Kate and also gathered by the children prior to
the session. The children will combine fruit, vegetables, leaves,
petals, stones, shells, fir cones, - anything natural, to make
a stunning piece that will ‘wow’ the senses. It
is likely that the children will not have encountered an art
experience such as this before and will have sense a pride in
their own achievements. The photos taken of the artwork will
be used on the second day, and the children will use a wide
range of exciting art materials with their pictures to create
an artwork for the setting and also something to take home. |
