Promoters

Promoting arts events helps people in your community connect with each other and enhances their quality of life. Promoting is a rewarding experience but can sometimes feel like hard work. We want to offer all our promoters support in organising successful events for local communities so please do not hesitate to call us for assistance.

Live promoters

In the Spring we usually hold an Annual Promoters Meeting to launch the menu of shows on offer.  Its an opportunity for promoters from across Somerset to meet, to exchange good and bad experiences, to discuss new ideas and ways of working together, and to get to know the Take Art staff and board of directors.

In 2010/11

  • 112 shows promoted in 74 communities
  • 135 artists employed
  • 500+ volunteers will dedicate over 2000 hours of time
  • 9000+ applauding audience members

However, due to unprecedented local authority cuts, in 2011/12 the picture looks more like this

  • 65 shows promoted in 41 communities (none in the area of Mendip due to the cuts)
  • 61 artists employed
  • 260+ volunteers will dedicate over 1000 hours of time
  • 4000+ applauding audience members

Become a Take Art Live promoter

Are you interested in high quality and affordable arts events and do you want to make a real difference in your local community?  However, you will firstly need to contact Sarah to make sure we are able to deliver the Live scheme in your area.

What do you need to do?

  • All you need is an enthusiastic, committed group of people
  • One person willing to be the named promoter
  • A venue space in your locality (venues range from huts to village halls, from community centres to churches, you might want to use the village green, the school or the local arts centre)

How does it work?

You take control of the all aspects of promoting a show, from selecting a show, promotional ideas and putting a professional theatre or dance production on in a venue of your choice. Black Country Touring have a massive range of companies with varied styles of productions to select from, the main thing is that the show chosen best suits your community - be it a fun circus show for kids and families, or something more theatre or dance based for adults - the choice is yours!

Promoters Menu: September 2011 - April 2012
