Information for performers and companies wishing to be involved in the Take Art Live rural touring scheme in Somerset
You are welcome to send information about your touring show to Sarah at Take Art if you think that it is appropriate for offering through the Live rural touring scheme. We work with a network of volunteer promoters in a range of halls and community centres across Somerset.
If you are an artist who is currently booked on our latest rural touring season, please can you fill in a Company Information Form about your show. Please click here to access the form.
Our plans for the touring period between Sept 2012 and April 2013 are a little uncertain as we have yet to have funding confirmed from several local authorities. As you may know, there have been unprecedented cuts in Somerset which has left the Live scheme with a mixed picture. We were unable to work at all in the one district of Mendip last year and may not be able to work in Sedgemoor this year. However, we are embarking upon a period of intense fundraising and hope that this will change again to give a healthier future to rural touring in the county.

Sedgemoor District Council has joined the trend in Somerset for arts budget slashing, cutting their provision to Take Art's rural touring scheme by an uncompromising 100% - a decision that will result in a drastic reduction in the amount of shows Take Art can offer Sedgemoor villages and communities.

On Thursday 1 March, Take Art and ‘Pretty Good Girl Dance Theatre’ are bringing the brave and beautiful show Luna to Sexeys School in Bruton, with the aim of raising awareness and support for transgender issues among teenagers.
Taunton Deane threatens a further 40% cuts to arts budget

After drastically cutting the small arts grant fund last year from £35,000 to £20,000, Taunton Deane District Council are proposing to get the shears out again, reducing the budget by a further 40% (£8,000) in 2012/13.
