Take Art run taster sessions to get men dancing

Take Art and NHS Somerset are currently working on a dance project called Signposts, aimed at getting men and their children dancing for health and happiness.

Taster sessions are currently taking place in Taunton and Glastonbury and if successful will lead to regular workshops across the county.

Signposts has been funded by NHS Somerset, who have identified men aged 25-50, as the people most at risk of heart disease and related illnesses caused by lack of exercise.

Dance is a really positive way for adults and children to enjoy exercise and by running father and children classes we are also creating an opportunity for a positive shared family experience.

We are currently running a series of free father and children taster sessions in selected Somerset primary schools and children centres, delivered by local artists Viv Gordon from Mean Feet.

Sessions have already taken place at Hillside Children’s Centre, Taunton and there will be additional free tasters at Crossways Centre in Taunton on Wednesday 26 January and 9 February, from 10am – 11.30am.
There will also be free tasters sessions in Glastonbury over January, February and March.

To find out about your nearest taster session please call Sue Way or Michelle Higgins at Take Art on 01460 249450 or email sue@takeart.org
