CERTIFICATE FOR MUSIC EDUCATORS: EARLY CHILDHOOD
The Certificate for Music Educators (CME): Early Childhood is being run by MERYC-England and Centre for Research in Early Childhood (CREC) The course is a nationally recognised qualification validated by Trinity College London.
The aim of the new national qualification is to raise the skill levels of the Early Years music workforce across the UK and is ideal for freelance and /or peripatetic musicians working, or wishing to work, in Early Years.
The CME, which will take 1-2 years to complete, will offer a flexible, part-time, distance-learning qualification in early childhood music and will benefit from direct contributions from Dr Susan Young and Dr Jessica Pitt, both well-known and highly successful early childhood music educators and researchers.
All students will also be assigned a regional mentor, who will closely support them throughout the course.
Jane will be linked with 3-6 students from the South West and says “I am hugely excited to be part of an outstanding team supporting this much needed and long awaited significant early childhood music programme. This qualification will be recognised by national arts organisations – including Take Art - as a professional route in to the exciting field of Early Years Music. In short, it’s a must for anyone wishing to pursue a career as a quality Early Years Music Practitioner."
